I have had this vacumn for about a month. I do not think I have had it long enough to write a appropriate review, but I know I will not remember to do it a year from now! I bought this to replace a $200 Kenmore that I had for two years. Two years is good for me. I usually have to replace them every year. I have 4 kids and 3 German Shephers...therefore I vacumn every day, sometimes twice a day. I really like the Eureka Airpeed . The first time I vacumned with it.... I was SHOCKED (at a little grossed out) at how much dirt/hair it got up. I did a 3x3 area and it almost filled the canister! It has great suction. I have low area rugs and this vacumn gets everything up, even dog hair. It also do very good on hard wood floors. It is easy to empty, but the filter and the area around it get DIRTY FAST. I have to clean it alot. I did not think that it would be that dirty that fast, but it started losing suction and I looked any it was not geting any air flow. As soon as I cleaned it, it went back to cleaning perfectly. It is very easy and pretty quick to clean. I rinse the filter about once a weeks. The cord is not quite long as I would like and it falls off the clip a lot while vacumning. It also does not have a light. My favorite thing about the Eureka AirSpeed is the power of the hose! It is equal to a shop vac! It is awesome. The attachments stay on the vacumn nicely (while in use and while not in use). It also gets very close the walls, unlike my old one. If you do not mind a little maintance, it is definitly worth buying. It also comes with a 2 yr warrenty.

I haven't had this thing for more than a few hours but I will give you my first impression. This thing has great suction. In fact, one reviewer here compained that this gets stuck on carpet and they can't figure out why. It is because this thing has really really good suction and if you set the heighth too low, it will suction to your carpet and become difficult to move. That is how awesome the suction is. Only time will tell if it remains this good after years of use. In particular, I was thoroughly impressed with how well the suction was good all the way to the very edge of the vacuum head. It totally picked up all the pet hair that resides near the baseboard by the wall. On my old Hoover, I would have to get out the hose for that. This thing is already saving me time.People are complaining of build quality. Honestly, other than some of the plastic hooks to hold the hose, this is as solid as my old Hoover and it seemed just as solid as the current Hoovers, Sharks, Bissels, Dysons, and other comparative brands at the store. In fact, one of the reasons I liked this is because I noticed it was one of the only display models that could stand up to customer abuse.People are also inaccurately reporting the maintenance requirements. The canister is emptied every time (and you need to do this because of how much this thing picks up). The filter is cleaned periodically. Additonally, for the person complaining about belts. Probably one of the only reasons this occurred to the reviewer is because Eureka was awesome enough to include a complimentary replacement belt in the box. To my knowledge, ALL stand-up vacuums like this require belts. In fact, one of the reasons I bought this is because my old Hoover started breaking its belt every 3 months and I got sick of it. In the end, is this vacuum high maintenance? A BIG NO. This vacuum's maintenance is on par with every single other bagless vacuum on the market. All of them tell you to empty the canister after each vacuum. The owners should be HAPPY that Eureka allows you to clean the filter at all. Many models don't have cleanable filters and just require you to periodically replace them. The filters for this vacuum can be purchased for about $15 on Amazon. Check around at other models and I bet they won't be that cheap... I do recommend cleaning the filter after the first vacuum though. My old vacuum left behind literally years of dust that this thing picked up in one pass and that made the filter crazy dirty after the first vacuum. After that, it is all about maintaining the clean... My biggest gripe about this is the configuration of the accessories. They do have spots for the different hose attachments but they are kind of sticking out of the front and back of the vaccum. In particular the brush that goes on the back of the vacuum sorta rubs up against the power cord which is a little annoying and honestly a very obvious design problem that eureka could have taken care of. Ironically, they have a different smaller model of the airspeed, called the airspeed vuum, which is difficult to find (I saw one at only one of the several Targets in my town). The way they handled the hose design and attachments on that vacuum is awesome and I wish they had translated that to their larger models. In the end, this is more of an annoyance. I bought the vacuum for its cleaning power, not as a room decoration. So, I will deal with this to get this quality of product at this price point.Lastly, it is a little heavy. Of course, I am coming from a bagged vaccum which are always lighter. I can make no comparisons to other bagless systems but I would wager this is on par with them. This really isn't a huge deal except when attempting to do stairs.Pros: 1. Sucks Awesome - both floor and through the tube. 2. NOT high maintenance. 3. Great quality for great price point. 4. Cheap replacement filters. 5. Worked equally well on carpet and linoleum flooring.Cons: 1. Slightly heavy. 2. Poor design on attachment clips. 3. It does not vacuum on its own? Where is my sandwhich vacuum!?!?!If you are on search for a bagless vacuum that doesn't cost $400, this is the one you want.

Eureka AirSpeed Gold Bagless Upright with AirSpeed TechnologyThis vacuum assembles easily without tools. Don't be concerned when Step 1 states that the main handle snaps into place when pushed down and it doesn't. The main handle actually becomes locked only when the "carry" handle is attached in a subsequent step.I already own a Dyson and this vacuum compares favorably. Both have powerful suction. I actually prefer the Eureka's utility tool hose operation to that of the Dyson. The stair/upholstery hose attachment works especially well. The Eureka is bagless, but it does have two filters which require periodic replacement. The DCF 21 canister filter is $15.18 each on Amazon. The EF6 exhaust filter is not presently available on Amazon but will presumably cost $10 to $12 each comparable to other Eureka exhaust filters. In total, filter replacements will probably amount to $50 plus per year based on Eureka's 3 to 6 month replacement instructions. By contrast, the Dyson's filter is washable and lasts for years.The ergonomic centrally located carrying/lifting handle on the Eureka is a strong plus for users like me with steps, stairs, and lots of immovable objects that require the vacuum be placed into small spaces. The Dyson's thin handle is at the very top of the machine which makes it difficult to lift.The power cord on the Eureka exits the machine at the bottom rear of the vacuum, directly in the footprint of the user. I've now become somewhat used to it but one must constantly avoid stepping or walking on the power cord.Overall, I probably still prefer the Dyson but by only by a slight margin. The Eureka should be an excellent value if it turns out to be durable and dependable.

We own this vaccum for less than 6 months, and we are getting rid of it. The suction power is vey weak, it won't even pick up cherios from the floor, and this is after ensuring that the container and filters are clean. 6 month is past the retail return date, and Eureka customer support does not provide return or refund services. They offer contact information for a service center.Needless to say, it will be much quicker to go buy a new vaccum, than to wait for repair. Hopefully your model was better than ours. ---UPDATE-------------- Alright I didn't recycle the thing, we took to a repair center, and the tech within 1 minute said, "it doesn't have a belt", he opened it up and the belt was missing, could have broken off and fallen off, but I doubt it, it probably was missing from manufacturing. There was a repair belt in the box, so it didn't cost me anything to replace, just the $5 labor fee to unscrew the front cover, remove the rod and place the belt. It is working like a charm now. hope this helps someone.
